It's a girl!

Yesterday Hannah and I went to the doctor and we were able to see our baby! She kicked a lot, and sucked her thumb, and pulled her toes. We saw her legs, face, stomach, brain, heart, a lot of other things! We listened to her heart beat too. We're thinking about the name Avery Jane Henderson. Last night we went to the mall and bought clothes. Hope you like the pics! Looking at the first photo you can see her profile, the second you can see her face, the third you can see she's a girl, and the fourth you can see her foot (left), knee, hip (right). Isn't she so cute?!

Making a Snowman

This afternoon it snowed several inches when I was working. Hannah told me that she had never made a snowman because it never snows in Dallas. Before coming home after work I went and bought a carrot and we made her first snowman!

Family Dinner Last Sunday

Last Sunday we had another great family dinner with Jon, Deborah, Alice, and Jon's sister Becky. Hannah wanted to try making the famous Papa Blake rolls again after being sure to buy the correct yeast this time. We had a turkey in the freezer and thought, why not do Thanksgiving again? So we did, and boy were Hannah's rolls amazing! If you're wondering why there are rolls in the spaghetti container, Hannah and I had no ziploc bags to put them in. I'm a disgrace to the Italians.

Christmas Tree

Thanksgiving week Hannah and I bought a christmas tree and lights. We don't have many ornaments yet. I don't know how we're going to move it to our new apartment next week. I think I'll walk it there.

Chicken Parmigiana

I made chicken parmigiana to celebrate after going to the doctor yesterday. I had never made it before and it was gooood. I made the marinara sauce and everything. If anyone would like the recipe, it's very easy to make.

July 1, 2007

Hello Family!

Well this week marks the completion of our first week done with school for the summer semester. We are both only taking one 3 hour class, so you wouldn’t think it would change our schedules too much, but of course it has. Christopher is determined to get an A and has been working really hard so far to achieve it. If he can keep it up he might actually pull it off. The only down side to him working so hard in his one class is he has no time to write a letter this week, so he handed to duty over to me.

We are very sorry we didn’t get a letter out last week, but to make up for it we will let y’all in on one thing we did. Last week ended with a wild trip to the Pleasant Grove Rodeo. We went with some friends of ours and surprisingly none of us had ever been to a rodeo before. It was better than it sounds. Once we got acclimated to the smell it started to be a lot of fun. I have to admit I was surprised at how fun it was. You wouldn’t think watching grown men hang on to a huge full grown bull in a smelly arena would be fun, but it is. If anyone has not gone to see a rodeo I would highly recommend it.

This week was a very long one for us. Between both work and school I didn’t think the weekend was ever going to come. But it finally did. On Friday I got out of work early and Christopher didn’t have to work at all, so we started our weekend off with a trip to the city pool. The best part of the pool was the two huge water slides. Utah has been having 100 degree weather this past week, so the dip in the pool was very refreshing.

Friday night Christopher and I packed up and headed down the road to Spanish Fork Canyon. We were accompanied by two other couples in our ward. The six of us found a camping spot, grilled some dinner, hiked to the hot springs, and ate s’mores around the camp fire. It was a long night. The hike to the hot springs is about 2 and half miles. It definitely took a toll on my body. In the end though it was a lot of fun and my back did not even hurt the next day from sleeping on the ground. Now I call that an accomplishment.

Saturday, once we got back from the canyon we started out trying to accomplish everything on our list to get done. Since our weeks are so busy with school and work we save every little errand for Saturday. Last week we got the brakes fixed on Cougar. This week we had to get one of the studs fixed on the front right tire. Just like many other occasions when a person takes their car in to get fixed another thing breaks. Christopher is convinced that Les Schwab broke it, but of course there is no convincing them of that. The best part of the whole experience was driving away from Les Schwab and realizing that in the process of fixing the stud they ruined the bearings. So next week will start with a third trip to Les Schwab to try and get our bearings fixed. This one though they will pay for, so that will be nice.

The up side to waiting for our car to get fixed was Christopher’s discovery of car washing supplies at Shop Co. We left the store with three brushes, a bucket, and car wash concentrate. I have never seen Christopher so happy. Our apartment has a hose with a sprayer attachment on the side of the building, so Christopher spent Saturday night washing Cougar. I think as a result now Cougar will get cleaned about twice a week.

This week Christopher and I proudly spent all the rest of our gift certificate money to Bed Bath and Beyond. We got two pillows for the couch, a throw blanket, a cheese slicer, and two picture frames. We can now hang up The Family Proclamation and our marriage certificate we got from the temple. Everything looks great in our new apartment.

Today we went on a picnic for lunch up the Provo Canyon and went to Boyd and Tamela’s for dinner. We grilled burgers for lunch and ate tacos for dinner. We ended the evening by playing spoons. I am proud to announce that I won!!! It was a proud moment.

We had a long and busy week and are looking forward to another one. At the end of this week the Henderson’s will join us for a trip to Grand Junction and Vernal. We can’t wait to see and spend some time with them. It should be a lot of fun.

We love you all very much and are so grateful for all y’all do for us.

Love
Hannah and Christopher

Hello Christopher, this is my first blog ever. We had a great stake conference this weekend. Michael is getting ready for camp this week, he will be going to NW VA and each day will be something fun for him to do. Each day he will be either caving, climbing, whitewater kayaking, or natural rock climbing.

On July 4th Kate and I will be flying to Atlanta. Michael and Kate will be staying at the lakehouse and on our 24th anniversay we will fly out to UT to see you guys.

Kate says "hi and that she has been going to the pool every day almost and went to the libray to see a magic show. She plays with her neighbors a lot. She has been having lots of fun."

Christopher and Hannah's Week

We both had a great week. I don’t really remember what happened last week until Friday. I think that we both worked a lot. Hannah works full time every week and I work more or less 50 hours. We love working with each other again in the morning because we wouldn’t see each other all day if we didn’t.

Friday evening Hannah and I went camping with a couple, Jason and Jen Talley, we met in our ward. We are great friends now. They’re both from Ohio and I think we really first bonded as we mourned watching the Cleveland Cavaliers lose all four games of the finals against the Spurs. The four of us went up to Squaw Peak and found a little place off the road to park. Luckily we didn’t have to hike more than a couple minutes to our site. We enjoyed each others company grilling barbecue chicken, heating baked beans on a fire we made, making smores, and just talking. The weather was perfect and we loved using our new sleeping bags we got as a wedding gift.

The next time you guys come to Provo we’ll have to take you to Kneaders. They make the best French toast I’ve ever eaten that comes all you can eat. With a special made syrup, whipped cream, and strawberries, you just can’t beat it.

I’m hoping that the wall Jon and I put up at his and Deborah’s new basement apartment won’t ever fall. We had to re-do the entire thing due to termite damage. Saturday morning we all went there and participated in one way or another. It’ll be strange not being able to walk down to flights of stairs to see them after they move this Saturday.

We are still enjoying our new ward and making new friends there every week. We’ll see how much we like it after 8:15 morning choir practice this next Sunday. The first counselor has asked the two of us to sing until we are given a calling thanks to Hannah writing on the new member sheet that I sing well.
Well, that's about all. Hope everyone is having a great week!
